1. Organisation
The Rendeux Trail Experience (RTX) is a trail race held in Rendeux, in the province of Luxembourg (Belgium), organised by the RTX organising committee (hereinafter "the organisers"). The date, start times and distances of the current edition are published on rendeuxtrail.be.
2. Races
- 7 km: an accessible loop, open to runners and fast walkers.
- 14 km: the full route, more technical and more demanding.
Distances and elevation gain are approximate. Both routes are marked and timed; the organisers may change them for safety reasons.
3. Eligibility
- 7 km: from age 12 (age reached during the year of the race). Runners under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
- 14 km: from age 14 (age reached during the year of the race).
- Minors must hand in a signed parental consent form when collecting their bib.
- No medical certificate is required. By registering, each participant declares that they are in good physical condition, have trained for the effort and have no medical reason not to run.
4. Registration and bibs
- Registration is online, via the link published on the website, while places last. On-site registration is only possible if bibs are still available.
- Bibs are collected at the start area from 9:00 on race day, on presentation of an ID.
- The bib is worn on the front and must remain fully visible throughout the race.
- Bibs are personal: they can only be transferred to another person with the organisers' approval, no later than 7 days before the race. Running with a bib transferred without approval leads to disqualification.
5. Cancellation by the participant
Entry fees are not refunded in the event of cancellation, including for medical reasons. The bib may however be transferred under the conditions of article 4.
6. Equipment
- Trail shoes and clothing suited to November weather (windproof or waterproof jacket recommended).
- Cup or bottle mandatory: no disposable cups are handed out at aid stations.
- A charged phone is strongly recommended, with the organisers' emergency number saved (given out at bib collection).
- Poles are allowed on the 14 km; runners who start with poles keep them until the finish.
- For everyone's safety, dogs (even on a lead) and pushchairs are not allowed on the routes.
- Headphones are discouraged: every runner must be able to hear the marshals and other participants.
7. Routes, aid stations and safety
- The routes are marked (tape, arrows and signs). Runners follow the markings and do not cut the course.
- Aid stations are shown on each race profile; a full aid station awaits every runner at the finish.
- The routes use roads and paths open to traffic: runners obey the highway code and the marshals' instructions, and never have priority at road crossings.
- A first-aid team is on site throughout the race. Every runner helps a participant in difficulty and alerts the organisers.
- A sweeper closes each route. For safety reasons, the organisers may stop a runner who is too slow (maximum 2 h 30 for the 7 km and 4 h for the 14 km) or who is no longer fit to continue.
- Runners who drop out must inform a marshal, an aid station or the organisers, and hand in their bib.
8. Respect for nature
The RTX crosses forests and private land opened specially for the race. Runners stay on the marked paths, drop no litter (wrappers, gels, cups) and respect wildlife, plants and local residents. Dropping litter on the course leads to disqualification.
9. Disqualification
The organisers may disqualify any runner who:
- does not follow the marked route or takes a shortcut;
- does not wear their bib visibly or runs with someone else's bib;
- drops litter outside the designated areas;
- receives food or drink outside the aid stations;
- does not obey the highway code or the instructions of marshals and first-aiders;
- behaves disrespectfully towards volunteers, other runners or local residents.
10. Rankings and prizes
An overall ranking for men and women is drawn up for each distance. The first three men and the first three women of each distance receive a prize. Results are published on the website on race day.
11. Insurance and liability
The organisers hold civil liability insurance. Each participant runs at their own risk; personal accident insurance is recommended. The organisers accept no liability for the loss, theft or damage of participants' belongings.
12. Changes or cancellation
In the event of dangerous weather (orange or red warning from the RMI), a decision by the authorities or any other case of force majeure, the organisers may change the routes and start times, or cancel the race. If the race is cancelled, they will inform participants as soon as possible and look for a solution (postponement or partial refund), without being obliged to do so.
13. Image rights and personal data
- Participants authorise the organisers and their partners to use photos and videos taken during the event for their communication, free of charge.
- Data collected at registration is used to organise the race, for timing and to publish the results (surname, first name, distance, time, ranking). It is never sold. More information on the Privacy page.
14. Acceptance of the rules
Registering for the Rendeux Trail Experience implies full acceptance of these rules.
